H.M.S. (His Majesty’s Ship) BELLONA was one of the most famous 74-gun vessels of the British Navy. The 74-gun was the linchpin of the major European naval powers from the Seven Years’ War (1756 - 1763), until the end of the Napoleonic Wars (1815). In 1755, the British Admiralty undertook the fitting out, under the leadership of Superintendent Thomas Slade, of the first vessels of this category, the so-called Dublin class.
